"We couldn't have done it without this commitment," says Thomas Döhrel from the organisation team, looking back with gratitude. "You rebuilt the shop, you cleaned it, you helped with sorting and you took over the delivery service for our customers in Markoldendorf." The helpers also organised the new access system for collection day. "That was really great!" says Thomas Döhrel on behalf of all the customers and helpers of the "Einbecker Tafel" for their great commitment. Employees at KWS in Einbeck could contact the works council if they wanted to be involved. A total of around 30 KWS employees lent a hand. The employees were able to take up to four hours a week off work to help at the food bank. Dr. Peter Hofmann, member of the KWS Executive Board, and Works Council member Christina Zöllner expressly thanked them for their commitment. "The last few months have presented us all with special challenges that we can only overcome together. I am therefore personally delighted that we were able to quickly find volunteers who, together with the Einbecker Tafel team, were able to help those who have been particularly hard hit in such difficult times," emphasises Dr. Peter Hofmann. The commitment has now come to an end. The "Einbecker Tafel" helpers from Markoldendorf are once again available for the delivery service; the new entry system has been accepted by customers. The sorting teams are complete again. "But many of us will miss you with your enthusiasm and dedication," says Thomas Döhrel, thanking them once again for their support.
Einbecker Tafel
The "Einbecker Tafel" is an ecumenical project run by the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Einbeck and the Catholic parish of St. Josef. It provides around 300 people from Einbeck, Dassel and the surrounding villages with food that has been discarded by retailers due to overproduction or expiring best-before dates. From Monday to Thursday, food donations are collected from supermarkets and shops and sorted in the food bank shop (Münsterstraße/corner of Hohe Münsterstraße). The food is distributed there every Thursday between 3 and 5 pm to the socially and economically disadvantaged customers of the "Einbecker Tafel", who have to register for this. Around 40 helpers are regularly active.
