Rye Belt – Perspectives for Rye Cultivation
The aim of the RYE BELT project is to promote the international competitiveness of rye growers in this "growing belt".
The three pillars:
- Breeding of highly productive, environmentally friendly and marketable varieties
- Optimisation of crop production for highly efficient production
- Extension of the utilisation and marketing possibilities
To achieve the goals, excellent international networking with experts from agriculture, breeding, crop production and the market is important.
Due to the close dialogue in this network, important trends and open questions are to be identified in good time and regional and international subprojects initiated.
The “Rye Belt”
Structure of the project
Experts from the fields of research, consulting, trade, processing companies and practitioners form the so-called RYE BELT designer teams. They deal with country-specific as well as transnational issues. You will be supported by breeding, cultivation and market experts of KWS.
The overall “Steering Committee” coordinates the project as well as the regional developments and issues. It compares the goals to be achieved and defines further, new directions for development of the project.
The results and projects of the designer teams directly benefit the farmer and are used across borders.
