CONVISO® ONE

A new herbicide, designed only for SMART KWS Seeds

CONVISO® ONE is a broad spectrum herbicide which has been developed by the team at Bayer for use on SMART KWS beet varieties. It has been extensively tested under New Zealand conditions where it has demonstrated excellent weed control.

New active ingredients

Two actives block the normal function of acetolactate synthase (ALS), an enzyme essential for developing amino acid plants need to grow.

Flexible application

A post-emergence herbicide that is applied in two applications, with a 10 – 14 day interval between applications.

Excellent crop safety

No phytotoxicity on the beet.

Spray timing’s focused on growth stage of weeds.

Weed control with new active ingredients

Leaf and soil activity

Foramsulfuron is mainly a leaf contact herbicide whereas Thiencarbazone-methyl is working both via leaf and soil activity.

Formulation type

CONVISO® ONE will be a liquid product formulated as an oil dispersion (OD). The two active ingredients of CONVISO® ONE are already registered for other crops, but are new in weed control in beet.

CONVISO® ONE can only be applied to SMART KWS varieties. Classic beet varieties will die, if treated with this herbicide.

Flexible application and crop safety

Dose rate and spray timing

CONVISO® ONE is registered to be used from 2 to 8 true leaves of the beet.

  • The dose rate is two applications of 0.5 L/ha with a interval of 10 - 14 days between applications.
  • The decision on when to apply the herbicide is determined by the growth stage of the weeds.
  • Once the first fathen plants reach the 2 – 4 true leave stage, the first spray is applied.
  • The second application should be made 10 - 14 days later and before the crop has reached 8 true leaves.

Remember, before pouring CONVISO® ONE into the sprayer tank, shake the can well 2 – 3 times.

Speed of action

CONVISO® ONE is immediately effective after application, but symptoms take several days to become visible while the herbicide is absorbed and then translocated through the plant.

  • Day 1-3: the weeds stop growing and the leaves begin to yellowing (chlorosis).
  • Day 4-10: leaves turns into a reddish tone.
  • Day 7-20: plants show a progressive browning (necrosis) and will die.
