Development of new and improved tolerances against pests and diseases
Sugarbeet breeders have demonstrated that a great idea can be turned into reality:
Today, on 100% of the European sugarbeet acreage, varieties are grown, which are resistant against one or more pest or disease - preventing losses on infected fields and achieving 100% yield security.
Sugarbeet varieties with a high yield potential will only fulfill their promises, if nematodes or other pests and diseases do not ravage them. To ensure yield stability, sugarbeet breeders will continue to develop new and improved tolerances against these pests and diseases.
