KWS at New Scientist Live: Pioneering the Future of Agriculture
We’re thrilled to announce that KWS will be exhibiting at New Scientist Live, the UK's largest festival of science and technology.
At KWS, we are at the forefront of agricultural innovation, committed to developing high-performance crop varieties that meet the challenges of modern farming. Our participation in New Scientist Live is a unique opportunity to engage with an audience passionate about science and technology, and to showcase how our cutting-edge research is shaping the future of agriculture.
What can you expect from us this year?
We want to tell you more about what we do at KWS and why!
This year, we will be hosted by Farmer’s Weekly at the ‘Future of Food and Agriculture’ area. We will be bringing into focus the journey from seed through to product, encompassing many areas of the agricultural industry in the process. We will highlight the specific nature of our industry and invite you to ask your questions and engage in what we do.
What will KWS be showcasing?
DNA extraction - see the letters of life!
All the instructions for life are contained in DNA.
Take part in our DNA extraction experiment and extract the instruction manual that gives a strawberry its unique appearance, smell and taste!
Do you know your seeds from your crops?
Seeds are the future of our food supply, and by understanding where our food comes from, we can make better choices about how we eat.
Take part in our variety quiz - match our major food crops to their seeds and to the everyday products you'll find in your local shop!
What does a Technical Specialist do at KWS?
At last year's New Scientist Live, Farmers Weekly demonstrated the innovative and ground-breaking ways in which food is made. To help do this, they created a series of videos to show you how diverse and scientifically advanced the agricultural industry is.
Here's our UK Conventional Technical Manager, Olivia, discussing more about her role and what she does at KWS.
