Growth regulator use in cereals
To achieve the maximum yield in cereal cultivation and assure harvestability, growth regulators are an important component of plant growth management.
To develop the proper strategy, the following factors should be considered, along with their effects included in the table below:
- Location
- Soil water supply
- Weather conditions
- Plant density
- Development stage
- Variety
In cereal growing, stabilisation of the lower part of the stalk by application of a growth regulator at BBCH 31/32 is usually the cornerstone of stalk stabilisation.
Therefore, check the development of your crop. If plants are overgrown, you have susceptible varieties and/or if a cereal was the previous crop, minimize the risk of eyespot by combining the growth regulator with an effective fungicide.
