The agrirouter data exchange platform is operated and coordinated by DKE Data, an Osnabrück-based company founded in 2014. Behind the agrirouter platform is a consortium of various companies that support cross-product and cross-manufacturer data exchange within the agricultural value chain.
As the first step of joining the consortium, KWS will connect the myKWS tool "Variable Rate Sowing" for the crop type corn to the agrirouter. The tool uses multi-year satellite data to estimate the site-specific growth potential of the soil within an agricultural area and combines this with a variety-specific sowing recommendation. The result is a variable seeding map that is customizable for the farmer. The site-specific seeding rate allows the genetic potential of KWS varieties to be fully exploited. This creates advantages for crop development and thus for subsequent yields.
The partnership between KWS and DKE Data makes it easier for farmers to transfer these sowing maps. The agrirouter acts as a digital intermediary that can exchange encrypted data packets between the various machines and agricultural software solutions from different providers without storing them. This breaks down digital barriers and enables cross-vendor data exchange. "In the future, farmers who have an agrirouter account will no longer have to laboriously download the finished sowing map, unpack it and load it onto a terminal using a USB stick. With the help of agrirouter, they can send the seeding maps from myKWS to the terminal of their seed drill with two clicks or share them digitally with their contractor. That is another step toward the digital future of farming," says Mark Bieri, Lead of Digital Farming Solutions at KWS.
Farmers using the "Variable Rate Sowing Corn" tool from myKWS will be able to use the agrirouter for sowing in Germany starting this spring. Other countries and myKWS services will follow.
Interested parties were able to experience the functions of the agrirouter live at the "Smart Farming Days 22" on April 27/28, 2022. The myKWS team presented the tool "Variable Rate Sowing Corn" during live demonstrations in the fields and presented the platform myKWS in the machine hall at the company's booth.
